What Happens When Two Cultures Come Together?
When Bangkok Bank, Thailand’s largest bank by assets, acquired Indonesia’s PermataBank in May 2020, it wasn’t just the largest intra-ASEAN banking acquisition in history, it also brought together Southeast Asia’s two largest economies – and their networks and people, commerce and culture.
In Bloomberg Media Studios’ latest collaboration with Bangkok Bank, Thai artist Jhoanne Asvathitanonta meets Indonesian artist Fauzi Satyaputra to create an original artwork on the theme of “family.”
Together, they blend two sets of cultural and creative perspectives for a deeply personal, wholly collaborative take on family that knows no borders, fused with motifs representing each bank: a lotus for Bangkok Bank and jewels for PermataBank.
Produced in a documentary style, we witness authentic teamwork and kinship unfold in Thailand’s financial and creative hub: a perfect metaphor for how the banks’ combined presence is helping customers unlock new opportunities in one of the world’s fastest-growing regions – and why they’re stronger together.
