The Business of Net-Zero
As the pressure mounts to hit net-zero targets, initiatives such as the US’s Inflation Reduction Act and the EU's Green Deal Industrial Plan indicate the importance nations and political institutions are fixing on businesses to support the climate transition. Inspired by new research from Zurich Insurance Group and Horizon Group, financial analyst and broadcaster Danni Hewson discusses operational challenges, regional disparities and the new role of the risk manager with Anita Horgosi, Zurich’s Sustainability Business Development Director for Zurich Resilience Solutions, and Fabienne Serfaty, a strategic consultant and private investor with a long-term commitment to reaching net zero.

What are businesses already doing to advance the climate transition? How are they approaching the challenges of mitigating and adapting to climate risks? Many companies are committed and making progress but need support from public sector stakeholders to channel investment and provide greater policy certainty around climate transition.
How To Power Climate Resilience
The race is on to reach the Paris Agreement’s target of limiting global warming to 2°C or below – but our survival doesn't just depend on cutting emissions. Financial analyst and broadcaster Danni Hewson talks to Amar Rahman, Zurich Insurance’s Global Head of Climate Resilience for Zurich Resilience Solutions, and Dr David Lallemant, Assistant Professor at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore who has developed models to better understand and reduce disaster risk. Using Risk To Build Resilience
Why Today’s Crisis Must Be an Opportunity To Build a Green Economy
As 2023 begins, the world is facing a set of risks that feel both wholly new and eerily familiar. We have seen a return of “older” risks – inflation, cost-of-living crises, widespread social unrest, geopolitical confrontation and the spectre of nuclear warfare – which few of this generation’s business leaders and public policymakers have experienced. These are being amplified by comparatively new developments in the global risks landscape, including unsustainable levels of debt, rapid and unconstrained development of dual-use (civilian and military) technologies, and the growing pressure of climate change impacts and ambitions in an ever-shrinking window for transition to a 1.5°C world. Together, these are converging to shape a unique, uncertain and turbulent decade to come.
This year's Global Risks Report paints a picture of serious and interconnected crises. We must use this perilous moment to move forward toward a greener and more stable global economy.
